The popularity of banners is on the
rise, because they are inexpensive to
produce and install, easy to change to
keep the message fresh, and with digital
printing, the image quality is comparable
to more expensive signs. Though banners are usually intended as temporary
signage, their use and re-use is being
extended for longer periods, sometimes even replacing permanent signs.
Advancements in materials, print technology and laminates have made this
more attractive by increasing the usable
life of printed graphics.
Installing a banner with hardware designed to keep it stretched smooth and
tight will also increase the durability and
improve the image of any flexible material, especially when compared to the typical installation with ropes and grommets.
Once the frame or mounting hardware
is in place, it is much easier to change
the graphics, and the banner that is removed can be rolled and stored for possible future use in the same or a different
location. In most cases, no special design
or fabrication methods are required to
utilize the many different mounting solutions available. It is recommended to sew
seams rather than using adhesive hems

When I was interviewing banner manufacturers about the industry
for a previous article, many of them
mentioned that mounting hardware is a
growing part of the banner market. We
are all interested in any aspect of the sign
industry that is showing growth right
now, so I thought I would investigate
this further.
I spoke to several different manufacturers, offering a wide variety of hardware designed to secure banners on walls,
roofs, poles, fences, across streets and on
vehicles. All will sell direct to the public,
but offer their products to the sign trade
at a discount, with additional volume discounts in many cases. If you learn more
about the wide range of creative banner
mounting options that are available, you
